- Wide and close-up photos, approximate dimensions and any existing plan.
- Address or district, floor, periods of direct sun, shade and usual wind exposure.
- Existing plants and containers, water and drainage points, and any pooling or leaks.
Everyday use and access
- The main use, seating, entrances and routes that must stay clear.
- Lifts, stairs, delivery routes, management restrictions and permitted access times.
- Budget, preferred completion date and responsibility for routine watering and scheduled care.

Assess the position
Identify possible planting areas, sunlight and wind exposure, with any limitations for the site team or specialists to address.
Plan the planting
Outline planting zones, sizes, quantities and containers as a basis for plant selection and a quote, keeping access clear.
Supply and place
Itemise supply, delivery, placement or planting work in the quote before scheduling.
Arrange ongoing care
Explain watering, cleaning and pruning needs. Any regular maintenance service has an agreed frequency and scope.

What affects the planting quote
- Plant species, sizes, quantities and container selection.
- Whether existing plants are retained, moved or handled separately.

Confirm the planting and access requirements first so the quote can identify the relevant costs.
Building works and site responsibilities
Roof loading, structure, container restraint, waterproofing, drainage, power, irrigation works and management approval need confirmation by the responsible site team or appropriate specialists.
Plantshop planting design and supply do not mean these works or statutory approvals are included. Agree responsibility for plant safety, routine care and site checks before and after strong winds.
Before planning a rooftop or terrace
Can you plan planting for a small terrace?
A small area can be assessed without assuming it needs extensive planting. Measure the available space and keep entrances, drainage and maintenance access clear. Plant choices depend on sunlight, wind and the actual site conditions.
Can we keep our existing plants and containers?
Include photos, dimensions and plant condition in your enquiry. We can discuss what to retain, move or handle separately, without assuming every existing plant will suit a new position.
Are waterproofing, drainage, roof reinforcement and ongoing care included?
These are not included by default. The quote distinguishes planting design, supply, agreed placement or planting and maintenance. Responsibility for waterproofing, drainage and reinforcement, as well as care frequency and arrangements for strong winds, must be confirmed separately.
