Choosing: PPFD, not wattage

Choose a full-spectrum white LED; focus on PPFD (µmol/m²/s at plant height), not wattage. Many LEDs placed too far (20–40 cm) look bright but deliver weak PPFD. Red/blue essential; green adds penetration.

Placement and duration

White LED bar ~25–35 cm above the canopy; 12–14 hours/day on a timer with a dark period; target PPFD ~100–200 µmol/m²/s for foliage plants; ramp up over 7–10 days.

Office practicality: Mount LED bars on shelving or ceiling with a timer for deep or windowless spaces.
