BEAM Plus is Hong Kong’s local green-building standard (HKGBC / BEAM Society). The Health & Wellbeing (HWB) category under BEAM Plus Interiors v2.0 covers plants and biophilic design.
How it scores plants
The HWB Biophilic Design credit can be earned via: potted plants/beds ≥1% of internal floor area; a plant wall ≥1% of internal floor area; natural materials, a water feature, nature soundscapes; or a Visual Quality Score (VQS) for bonus credit. (Points/thresholds vary by version — check the latest manual.)
Practical notes
BEAM Plus rewards actual completed performance, not design intent, so greening must be planned at fit-out and delivered. Compliant greening lifts ESG image, tenant satisfaction and ratings.
