Air Plant (Tillandsia) Care
Air plants (Tillandsia) are epiphytic bromeliads that need no soil, absorbing water and nutrients through their leaves.
Watering: soak vs mist
Most common: a weekly 20–30 minute soak; xeric species mist 2–3 times a week.
Always dry thoroughly!
After watering, shake off excess, place upside down/on its side, dry in airflow at least 4 hours before display — otherwise it rots.
Water and light
Rainwater best; let tap water sit a day. Bright indirect light, avoid harsh sun.
Temperature and placement
Nights above ~13°C, days 18–32°C; keep away from AC/heating vents.
Feeding and flowering
Monthly diluted (¼) bromeliad/orchid fertiliser; blooms once per lifetime.
Office appeal: Display in glass globes, shells or wire stands — no soil, no pests.
